Interloan Services
Brighton District Library interloan's thousands of books every year for our patrons. If we don't have it, we can almost certainly get it conveniently brought to our library or to a Brighton Area Schools Media Center for you to check out. We will keep the interloaned item 7 days to allow you to pick it up. This is a free service! In some cases we will not be able to get new books, audio/visual materials, or rare materials.

| Library Catalog through the TLN Consortium - Includes 55 public libraries in Wayne, Oakland, Washtenaw, Livingston County. | Anything that TLN member libraries will interlibrary loan. All libraries allow books to be requested, some do not allow new materials to be requested, some do not allow audio visual materials to be requested. All circulating materials owned by Brighton District Library are avilable for request by BDL patrons. | Go to the Library Catalog, find the item you want. Click on "place hold". Enter your library card # and PIN ("changeme" until you change it). NOTE: Some items are unavailable for interloan. | Delivery in 2-4 days if item is available and there is no waiting list. You will be contacted by email (if you have given us your email), automatic phone message or automatic mailer, if email and phone are unavailable. |
| For Brighton Area School students, staff and parents - Items from Brighton District Library and other TLN libraries will be delivered to Brighton Area School Media Centers. | Same as above. | Go to the Library Catalog, find the item you want. Open another window and go to the Brighton Area Schools Interlibrary Loan Form and fill out the form. Or ask your school Media Specialist to request the item for you. NOTE: Some items are unavailable for interloan | Delivery in 5-10 days if item is available and there is no waiting list. Delivery will occur once a week from the Brighton District Library to each Brighton Area School Media Center. You will be contacted by the School Media Specialist when your item is in. |
| MelCat - Includes many academic, public, and school libraries across Michigan. More libraries are being added every few months. | Most books are available for interloan unless they are "new." Some libraries allow requests for audio visual materials, some do not. It is possible to find items in MeLCat that cannot be requested at all. Requests are limited to no more than 50 requests at a time per patron. | Go to the MelCat catalog, search for item, request by click on "Get this for me!". Choose the library that your card is from, put in your name and library card #. Click on "Submit." Go to MyMel to view or cancel requests. | Delivery in 7-14 days if item is available. You will be contacted by email (if you have given us your email), automatic phone message or automatic mailer, if email and phone are unavailable. |
