How to Evaluate a Web Site
Now you know a little bit about what kind of site
you're looking at from the web address. How can you tell if it has
good information? Ask yourself the following questions:
| |
Currency
|
| |
Is this site dated?
If so, when is the last time it's been updated?
If not, does the information need to be timely because
it changes all the time (such as current events, medical
information, etc.) or can it be older (such as history,
policy information, classic literature or music).
|
| |
Accuracy
|
| |
Where does the information come from?
Is the site filled with propaganda and rhetoric or does
it have facts to back it up?
|
| |
Authority
|
| |
Who is responsible for this site?
Do they have a link to give us some background information?
Do they indicate what other organizations may be sponsoring
this site?
Is there a link to the webmaster or other contact individuals
so that I can get more information, if needed?
|
| |
Bias
|
| |
Does this site have a particular perspective on an issue?
Is their perspective clear and direct or indirect?
