Outreach Services
The youth services department provides many services in the communty.
Badge Boxes are available for any troop in Livingston County. Each box contains directions and items needed to complete a Brown Try-it or Junior badge. The box checks out for three weeks. In addition, a binder containing scouting ceremonies, Juliet Lowe's birthday and meeting fillers is available for use in the Library. This service is made possible through the efforts of Troop 40728. Books in a Box -This program loans a collection of 25 picture books to childcare, preschool and Head Start facilities. The collection checks out for four weeks and may not be be renewed. Book Boxes are to be picked up and returned to the Youth Services Department. A business library card is necessary for this service. Please call to reserve your box. 810-229-6571 x. 223.
Books While You Wait At various locations throughout Livingston County, children's books are available to browse and keep. Staff refresh the collections once per month with gently used books. Currently we stock the Women's Resource Center, Livingston County Health Department, Pregnancy Help Clinic, and Gleaners Food Bank. Your donations are greatly appreciated.
Daycare and Preschool Services
Outreach to schools- Brighton District Library is committed to working with local schools to promote books, reading and library resources. We would be happy to visit your school and share with staff our newest books, databases and or services. We will also visit your classroom.
